| It Only Happens With Help by Karen Rise, President of D19 It takes many, many hours of volunteer labor to make our District function. My thanks to everyone who works to make this work. It’s great to walk in the door of an event and not have to do anything except sit down and play bridge. But let’s be realistic – somebody spent a tremendous amount of time getting everything set up so that it’s possible. |

2025 saw Dave Johnson take over as Chair of the Penticton Regional. It was a great tournament, and Dave might be rested up by now 😊. After a decade of dedicated service as Penticton's Chair, Marv Norden has retired. Looking ahead to 2027, Shelley Burnham will take over as Chair for the Victoria Regional. For this year’s event, she worked alongside JP Weber to ensure its success. Marla Patterson has taken over as Tournament Chair of the Lynnwood Regional, so Ann Romeo can dedicate her time to chairing the 2027 NABC in Seattle. In 2023, our long-term Treasurer unexpectedly died. Dean Altschuler stepped in and spent a great deal of time working as interim Treasurer. He has now retired and many thanks to Becky Stevens who has taken over keeping the District’s books and taking care of the taxes for two countries. Certainly not last nor least, JC Chupack joined the District board this year and has worked very hard bringing this newsletter back to life. She will also be taking over as webmaster for the District when JP Weber retires from the board at the end of the year. There are so many more volunteers throughout our operation, but my editor wields a stern keyboard and has limited my space! Thank you to everyone who volunteers their time to make D19's events and actions possible! |
